Mysore is the natural gateway to Kodagu — at 120 km via Hunsur and Kushalnagar it is barely three hours, which makes it the shortest approach to Coorg from any of our hubs. Groups already in Mysore for heritage sightseeing routinely extend into Coorg on the same booking.

The road climbs gently through Kushalnagar before the Madikeri ghat section, and the internal estate roads around Abbey Falls are narrow. We recommend the 10+1 SWB for groups of eight or fewer; larger groups run the 12+1 comfortably on the main circuit.

Force Urbania Rental for the Mysore to Coorg Route

This is the shortest approach to Kodagu of any Urbania rental we run — three hours against five and a half from Bangalore. Groups already in Mysore for heritage sightseeing routinely extend into Coorg on one continuous Force Urbania hire booking, which is cheaper than treating them as two separate trips. On the vehicle: the estate roads around Abbey Falls are narrow, so the 10+1 SWB van rental suits groups of eight or fewer, with the 12+1 MWB comfortable on the main circuit.

About Coorg

Coorg, properly Kodagu, is a hill district of the Western Ghats known for coffee, cardamom and the martial Kodava community. Madikeri is its main town, with Raja's Seat looking west over ridge after ridge at sunset and the Madikeri fort and Omkareshwara temple in the centre. Abbey Falls drops through a coffee estate a few kilometres out. Talacauvery, at the source of the Cauvery, and Bhagamandala, where three rivers meet, sit higher up. Dubare on the river runs a working elephant camp.

Mysore to Coorg Tour Package — Questions

About three hours for the 120 km via Hunsur and Kushalnagar. It is the shortest approach to Kodagu from any major city, which is why groups already in Mysore often extend rather than routing back through Bangalore.

Yes, and it is the most common booking pattern from this hub — a day of Mysore heritage followed by two nights in Coorg on one continuous vehicle booking. Ask the coordinator to quote it as a combined package rather than two separate ones.

Only to the base. The final 8 km to Mandalpatti is an unmetalled forest track open exclusively to registered 4x4 jeeps. We drop your group at the base where the jeep transfer operates, and wait there.
